Bundle Patch 3 Now Available for Application Management Pack 12.1.0.4

Application Management Pack (AMP) 12.1.0.4.0 for Oracle E-Business Suite was released in June 2015. We have just released the third set of updates for AMP 12.1.0.4.0. These updates include enhancements as well as fixes for stability and performance issues.

We strongly recommend that you apply Bundle Patch 3 to your E-Business Suite environments and your Enterprise Manager server:

What's New in Bundle Patch 3?

Discover and monitor Oracle E-Business Suite targets hosted on Oracle Cloud. ( high-oracle.com )
Support is now enabled for discovering multiple instances with the same SID.
The naming convention of the Oracle E-Business Suite targets is changed. It no longer uses the DB SID as a prefix. The Database target name is used instead, which is passed for discovery.
The DB target name, which is passed to the EBS target discovery, can only contain alphanumeric characters and period ('.').
For a successful discovery, the preferred credentials must now be set for the host where the admin server is running. On Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 or later, the preferred credentials setup must be completed on both the patch and run file system admin servers. If not, pre-validation will fail.
Host aliasing is now automated and will attempt to match the host name in the EBS context file and the discovered host name in Oracle Enterprise Manager. If this attempt fails, you will be prompted to perform the mapping manually.
Customization Manager and Patch Manager now support host aliasing.

ORAchk Health Checks Tool: New Version 12.1.0.2.1 Released

The new ORAchk release 12.1.0.2.1 is now available to download.

Easier to stay up to date with the most current version of ORAchk

ORAchk release versioning now aligns with and follows the same format used by the Oracle 12c Database Patch Set Updates (PSUs); this version is 12.1.0.2.1, the next will be 12.1.0.2.2.

It’s also now even easier to update ORAchk across multiple machines.

Download the latest release of orachk.zip into a shared network staging directory
Set the environment variable $RAT_UPGRADE_LOC to the staging directory
The next time ORAchk is run it will prompt you to auto update

Over 70 new EBS checks ( high-oracle.com)

ORAchk support for EBS has been enriched and broadened, with even more checks for Oracle Payables (R12) and Oracle Workflow and now with release 12.1.0.2.1 introduces new support for Oracle Order Management (R12) and Oracle Process Manufacturing (R12).

New ORAchk Support for Windows

ORAchk is now supported on Windows when run within a Cygwin environment. Instructions for configuring Cygwin can be found from Document 1268927.2. ORAchk now includes hundreds of database and application checks which will run on Windows. There are even more Windows specific checks in the pipeline.

Easier execution for environments with role separation

You no longer need to have different users execute different ORAchk profiles to workaround your company’s implementation of role separation. ORAchk can now be run once as root to execute all checks. Prior to executing checks that do not require root access, ORAchk will switch user to the lower level accounts.

Faster execution time

When running against multiple databases, ORAchk can now run database checks in parallel meaning it takes a fraction of the time to complete execution. Parallel database execution is now the default. It can be turned off, if you prefer to run checks serially.

Enhanced comparison of result output

Quickly find out what has changed on your system between two ORAchk runs. When ORAchk is run with the –diff command it will now not only compare check results but collection data too. Quickly compare and understand differences in kernel parameters or database initialization parameters.

ORAchk replaces the popular RACcheck tool, extending the coverage based on prioritization of top issues reported by users, to also proactively scan for known problems within a wider range of products.
ORAchk version 2.2.4 is now available for download through MySupport.Oracle.com

This script is builded to audit several important configuration settings within Real Application Clusters, Oracle Portable Clusterware and Automatic Storage Management environment , in addition to non- Real Application Clusters, Oracle Golden Gate configuration and other Oracle products over time. Latest release now covers Oracle E-Business Suite Financials Accounts Payables and Solaris under Oracle Sun Systems

OraCHK can be used with any database versions 10gR2 onwards, while the platforms (OS) that it can be used include Linux x86-64, Oracle Solaris SPARC and Solaris x86-64, AIX and HPUX. See requirement on the the relevant MOS note. To obtain the most out of ORAchk, root access (via password or SUDO) is recommended.

Usage of ORACHK

Download the ORAchk: The latest version of ORAchk is attached to Note 1268927.1 and can be downloaded there.
Unzip orachk.zip kit $ unzip orachk.zip
Give to permission $ chmod 755 orachk
You can execute with following commands ...

$ ./orachk (for regular healtcheck as well as HA best practices)
$ ./orachk-c hacheck (Only HA best practices)
After finish, the following (or similar) will be displayed:

Detailed report (html) - /home/oracle/orachk/orachk_ratlnx01_120211_114104/orachk_ratlnx01_120211_114104.html
UPLOAD(if required) - /home/oracle/orachk/orachk_ratlnx01_120211_114104.zip
At this point you may view the HTML output in the file shown in the output above.
If there is an active SR which orachk was recommended as part of its resolution, upload the orachk_*.zip to that SR.

SPTouch – Virtual Home Button for iPhone

is something that is unique to the device and performs important functions like going back to the Home screen, switching between apps, etc. However, logical reasoning says that regular and rough use of the Home button can result in its premature wearing out, and it can sometimes result into the Home button not working at all.

A lot of users have reportedly said that they have faced instances when the Home button on their iPhone stopped working properly and worked only when pressed very hard or in a particular way. In other instances, the Home button stopped working completely and needed to be replaced. Of course, you have got Assistive Touch, but it won't be of any use if you haven't enabled it. Your only solution would be to get the Home button replaced, which might be an expensive and inconvenient affair.

This is why you need a feature that will help you use the Home button without causing any issues to it. If you are using a jailbroken iPhone, one solution is readily available. A new jailbreak tweak called SPTouch has been released for iOS 9 and provides a solution to this problem by adding a virtual Home button to the screen. But is it really worth downloading ? Let's see.

Features :

SPTouch, similar to Assistive Touch, adds a new button to the display of your iPhone, and this new button acts as the Home button. With just a tap on the button, you can perform various actions that you can

with the physical button.
A great thing about this tweak is that the virtual Home button can be dragged and repositioned anywhere on the screen as per your convenience.
One tap on the virtual button will take you back to the Home screen. To open the App Switcher, you need to double tap the button.
The SPTouch button can be customized in many ways from its preferences pane inside the Settings app. The size and transparency for the button can be adjusted, and you can even have it disabled on the lock
screen. There are a few more customization options in the preferences. No respring is needed as the changes take place immediately.

What we don't like about SPTouch is that the virtual Home button does not look native to iOS 9. But other than that, the tweak works perfectly and saves your physical home button from exertion.
